International Litigation
The Firm has represented Asian, Latin American, and European clients in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts and in the International Court of Arbitration. These cases typically involve foreign manufacturers and local distributors which themselves usually do business in third countries. For example, we represented an Asian computer manufacturer in federal-court litigation against its Latin American distributor. We obtained a multi-million-dollar jury verdict which we successfully defended on appeal and then enforced in lengthy bankruptcy proceedings. We also represented a Colombian distributor of jet engines against a large aerospace manufacturer in the International Court of Arbitration. We have considerable expertise in legal issues frequently arising in such litigation, such as choice of law, forum non conveniens, and the application of foreign law. |
